Donny Hathaway - What’s Going On
Don’t get me wrong. I love Marvin Gaye. But Donny Hathaway’s voice is astoundingly good. I love this rendition of What’s Going On. Plus this particular recording makes me think that D’Angelo’s voice sounds a lot like Donny Hathaway’s. Although I’ve never read anything saying he was inspired by Hathaway, I wouldn’t be surprised if a D’Angelo recording of this track would sound a bit like this one.
All that aside, enjoy this wonderful recording.
